VIRTUS
The “Virtual Vocational Education and Training – VIRTUS” project has developed an innovative, fully functional virtual vocational education and training centre providing appropriately designed modular certified courses in Modular Employable Skills (MES), corresponding to a wide range of circumstances such as regional growth potential and/or company restructuring and aiming at increasing the participation rate of adult learners in vocational education and training.
In particular, the virtual VET center currently provides two modular certified courses on:
- Tourism and Hospitality Services.
- Social Entrepreneurship.
An ECVET-standards modular course in Tourism and Hospitality Services undoubtedly corresponds to regional needs as Italy, Greece, Spain and Austria traditionally constitute major touristic destinations for both EU residents and non-EU residents.
An ECVET-standards modular course in Social Entrepreneurship also corresponds to current regional needs and challenges. In the current period of economic and social recession, social enterprises are able to bring innovative solutions for social cohesion and inclusion, job creation, growth and the promotion of active citizenship.
For both these courses, the ECQA proposed European Certificates that can be obtained after the successful execution of an examination covering the complete training scopes. National certificates of training course participation can be obtained from national Virtus training organisations.

The Virtus Virtual VET platform (V3C, www.virtus-vet.eu)
The VIRTUS Virtual VET Centre (V3C) platform presents a comprehensive collection of requirements and a first design for the V3C platform. Requirements base on end-user needs assessment, state-of-the-art of virtual organizations in VET, and European certification practice. For a first design, the specification identifies most important agent roles and use cases and introduces V3C as an integration of light-weight learning management systems (LMS) and personal learning environments (PLE).
The Virtus Learning handbook describing the use of this platform can be downloaded at the end of this page.
The V3C platform has been linked with the ECQA Self Assessment & Exam portal, in order to enable learners stay within one environment for learning, exam preparation, as well as the final exam leading to ECQA certificates.
