AQUA Project
All partners in this project are involved with automotive industry and support the introduction of new skills for innovation in the Automotive industry. The partners already collaborate in initiatives to support the leadership of European Automotive industry. One of the most recent skills needs that came up in the last years is related to methods and approaches for managing the complexity of electronic and software functionality in cars which is increasing exponentially. The newest version of high class cars in Europe already contain now 120 computers connected in real time by a bus system realising car functions in real time. Some of the functions are safety critical forming hazards and thus a new functional safety standard ISO 26262 came out which is a hot topic of implementation on the market at the moment. At the existing European network EuroSPI leading automotive companies such as DAIMLER, KTM Motorsport AG, ZF Friedrichshafen AG, Magna, BOSCH, MTU participated in workshops and some of them even presented studies and papers (see www.eurospi.net, http://2012.eurospi.net -> Key Notes) which show the dramatically increasing complexity and the increasing knowledge needed for functional safety. Also the German Automotive Association Quality Management Center (VDA – QMC) started organising the Automotive Sys days in 2011 so that the industry can exchange knowledge about this required skills and best practices for implementation.
Especially the skills related to ISO 26262 (functional safety) are an actual need on the market due to the fact that the standard is very new on the market and still there is a lack of best practices to implement in the Automotive industry. The partners in this project have complementary, such as:
VDA-QMC is the German Automotive Association Quality Management Center which is the certifier for Automotive SPICE Assessors and organises the Automotive Sys conference, ISCN is a VDA-QMC training partner and VET organisation for Automotive SPICE and functional safety and moderates a Tier 1 working group (24 suppliers) about implementation experiences and organises annual EuroSPI events, TU Graz is developing a curricula for a functional safety and works with Magna, AVL, etc., Grenoble INP and EMIRAcle moderate a network of manufacturing research companies who implement integrated design and reliability engineering and act as a network of VETs, Symbol BV manages the Lean Six Sigma Academy in Europe for production and design quality, and the Automotive Clusters of Slovenia and Austria represent semi public associations which support Automotive companies to get access to currently needed key skills.
This complementary partnership allows to agree, disseminate and certify the necessary new skills on the Automotive market because it includes VETs, certifiers, Automotive associations and international networks.
