Description of profession

A Scope Manager is a management and measurement expert. Scope Managers focus on the interface between customers and suppliers of contracted IT system and software development projects. They manage customer driven project scope in terms of requirements, size, cost and schedule. As an advocate for optimal software delivery they are a valuable extension to the customer acquisition teams.

Scope Managers were originally just independent consultants, as defined above, but exactly same methods, tools, and skills have been successfully applied for improving the acquisition processes within customer organizations, and the sales and project management support processes within developer organizations.

Scope Manager Training Content

The whole program consists of 4 training days + 1 day review and exam. Contents of training days follow the 12 steps of the northernSCOPE™ concept in order from day 1 to day 4.

Effective Execution and Collaboration, Day 3

• Product requirements artifacts for documentation, scope baseline, and negotiated change.
• Baseline 0: assessing functional & quality user requirements, and technical requirements.
• Quantitative change management and control.
• Monitoring & control of non-functional changes.
• Earned value reporting with functional size.
• Progress reporting the northernSCOPE™ way.
