ECQA Certified Diversity Manager

Description

Diversity Manager has become a new profession and additional qualification for Human Resource and General managers only recently. Vocational training for diversity managers is characterized by heterogeneous curricula and limited to a few courses and master´s degrees offered by specialized training organizations, NPOs and universities.

As for other new job roles relevant for the European Union (EU), such as Applied Sustainability Manager or (Corporate) Social Responsibility Manager, there is a clear and urgent need for a harmonized European approach to the description and definition of the skills and competences of diversity managers, in particular in the context of the strict anti-discrimination and equal treatment legislation of the EU.

Skill Cards

The Job Role Committee (JRC) for the ECQA Certified Diversity Manager will develop the skills card, training material and certification scheme for the job role/additional competence of a European Diversity Manager.

Target Group

Following the success story of the European Computer Driving License (ECDL), this certification will function as “European Diversity Manager´s Driving License (EDiDL)”. Thus, this JRC will pave the way for a future “European Diversity Driving License” for a much larger target group, i.e. for all European citizens of all ages, who want to get fit for living together in our multi-cultural European societies in a most fruitful and peaceful way. The joint markets and economies shall benefit from the innovative potential of our diverse work force in the EU.

The development of an ECQA Certified Diversity Manager will guarantee sustainability, cross-fertilization and comparability with other ECQA certificates, such as ECQA Certified Social Responsibility Manager and ECQA Certified Innovation Manager.

Future Implements:

In the years 2013 and 2014, the JRC of ECQA Certified Diversity Manager will develop and implement:

• SELF ASSESSMENT  –  free of charge test to check existing skills and competences;

• TRAINING MATERIAL  –  modular: Units/Elements/Performance Criteria, for VET face-to-face-trainings as well as for online and blended learning;

• LEARNING PORTAL  –  providing training material and exercises;

• INTEGRATION OF TRAINING SCHEME INTO ECQA SCHEME (www.ecqa.org);

• TRAIN-THE-TRAINER ACCREDITATION;

• POOL OF EXAM QUESTIONS  –  unified, supported by ECQA electronic exam system;

CERTIFICATION –  “ECQA Certified Diversity Manager” certificate will be issued to those who will successfully pass the exam.

Summer School in July 2013

The ECQA Certified Diversity Manager will be introduced to the international community at the International Diversity Management Summer School from 22 to 26 July 2013 in Vienna, Austria, organized by the Forum European Diversity Management (www.forum-european-diversity-management.eu).
